Richard Levin, film producer
Born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany, Richard Levin, a young and aspiring filmmaker, began his career in the entertainment industry in 2010.
After he received his Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media at the University of applied Science in Darmstadt, Germany, Richard immediately landed a full-time job, working as a Junior Producer for a film production company called Black Pearl Film, based in Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany. During this time, he focused on producing low- to mid-budget commercials as well as images spots where he gained most of his experience in film producing.
So far, Richard has worked for clients like Volkswagen, Nivea, Deutsche Bahn, Sparkasse, Toyota, Radeberger and many other productions, domestically as well as international.
As a Freelance Producer in 2016, while also full-time managing directing a venue in Frankfurt known as the Freitagsküche, or Friday Kitchen, which represents the gustatory gestalt of the contemporary German art scene and for now fifth-teen years, founders Michael Riedel and Thomas Friemel have been inviting artists to prepare dinner while guests eat, relax, and socialize.
In 2017, Richard Levin left his hometown in order to pursue a Master of Fine Arts at the Barry Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema in Brooklyn, NY with a concentration on producing narrative storytelling, long and short. Since then he produced and worked on a large amount of short films.
While organizing exhibitions, live music, in-house catering, but also many other events such as the Palais de Tokyo vernissage in Paris curated by David Zwirner, an art gallery based in London and New York. Here Richard gained additional experience on another level, which helped him to establish a strong relationship to the contemporary art world.
His passion for music and the nightlife scene, mostly Berlin and Frankfurt, connected him to many music artists from around the world. Thus, creating and producing a number of music videos.
Over the course of nine years he has produced a spectrum of different formats on nearly 50 film projects of which two were screened at the Berlin Film Festival’s Hessen Talents in 2014 and 2015.
After completing his Master’s degree, Richard spent several years at Studio Babelsberg, where he initially worked as an Executive Assistant before transitioning into the Production & Development department. Acting as the bridge between productions and the studio, he supported managing directors and production executives while accompanying national and international film and television productions through all stages, from pre-production to wrap.
Within this environment, Richard was involved in both the creative and strategic aspects of production, including the evaluation of scripts with regard to their production feasibility and the coordination of complex projects within a large studio structure. Alongside his production work, he contributed to broader operational initiatives, including sustainability efforts and the development of new processes, as well as representing Studio Babelsberg at major international film festivals and industry events such as the Berlinale, IFFR Rotterdam, and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Through this role, he further strengthened his perspective and professional network within the global film industry.
His international background and experience enables him to think outside of the box and implement techniques and strategies to bring a project to its highest possible outcome.
